ROZA (FASTING)
For every muslim fasting is a great school of discipline and doctrine, both spiritual and moral. It is not limited to abstinence from food and drink only, but of all that is bad behavior, bad word, evil act or bad thought. The objective is to make a conscious effort to improve behavior and try to have more self-discipline, willpower. Teaches patience, perseverance and strengthens resistance, remember the importance of obeying and fulfilling the obligations as a good muslim and helps to get away from the evils and close to God.
Fasting is recommended during other times of the year, but during Ramadan is strictly mandatory for anyone who can do it. It is done for all days of the month from sunrise to sunset.
Ramadan is the name of the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. During this month, muslims practice obligatory fast, like prayer, for everyone from the child / a reaches the age of puberty. Are exempt from: children, the sick, the elderly, pregnant women with the period, and travelers.
As Islam is guided by the lunar calendar, fasting begins with the appearance of the moon at the end of Sha ban (the eighth month of the calendar).
